Drinking Lingzhi Coffee A Day Diabetes Take Away

Drinking up to four cups of coffee a day can cut the risk of developing type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure, new research claims

Scientists say drinking three to four cups of coffee a day is associated with around a 25 per cent lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure
  • Scientists claim to have found a link between coffee and metabolic syndrome
  • Researchers say drinking one to four cups a day can still have health benefits
  • It reduces risk of type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and even heart disease
  • Drinking three to four cups a day linked with around a 25 per cent lower risk

Coffee can cut the chances of developing type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and even heart disease, a new study has claimed.

Drinking as many as four cups of coffee a day can significantly reduce the likelihood of getting hypertension and diabetes, according to new research.

Scientist found that even having decaffeinated coffee can still have health benefits.

Researchers at the universities of Navarre in Spain and Catania in Italy discovered a link between coffee consumption and metabolic syndrome.

Metabolic syndrome, or MetS, is a combination of diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity, which raises the risk of cardiovascular problems, heart attacks and strokes. It can affect one in four adults in the UK.

The studies suggested that drinking three to four cups of coffee per day is associated with around a 25 per cent lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes, compared to consuming none or less than two cups in 24 hours.

Thousands of newly-diagnosed cases from eight different countries were examined and showed a statistically significant positive link between coffee drinking and subsequent risk of type 2 diabetes.

Every additional cup of coffee, up to six to eight cups a day, was linked to a five to ten per cent lower risk of developing the condition, scientists claim.

Assistant professor Giuseppe Grosso from the University of Catania reviewed his own scientific papers on coffee consumption and metabolic syndrome from Polish and Italian studies.

His research suggests that polyphenols packed with antioxidants contained in coffee may be involved in preventing metabolic syndrome, 'specifically phenolic acids and flavonoids'.

Scientist found that even having decaffeinated coffee can still have health benefits such as lower the chances of getting high blood pressure or diabetes.

He also reviewed previous research that suggested that moderate coffee consumption helps reduce cardiovascular disease, cancer and type 2 diabetes.

Research also suggested coffee intake of three to five cups a day is linked to a 15 per cent reduced risk of cardiovascular disease.

Estefania Toledo, of Navarre University and Ciberobn, a Spanish biomedical centre, said the analysis showed an 'association between coffee consumption and a decreased risk of type 2 diabetes' and added that 'long-term coffee consumption is associated with a decreased risk of hypertension'.

Results from a study involving UK women suggested that flavanols and hydroxycinnamic acids were the most important polyphenols, provided by tea and coffee.

The researchers, who were independent but were commissioned by the Institute for Scientific Information on Coffee (ISIC), a body funded by coffee companies, said: 'Further research is required to clarify the associations between coffee and metabolic syndrome.'

Scientists said their findings occurred in both men and women and added that more research was needed to investigate the causes behind the link between coffee and metabolic syndrome.

See What Happens When You Drink Spirulina Everyday

What is SPIRULINA?

Spirulina is a blue-green algae, which gets its name from its spiral shape. It contains the most remarkable concentration of nutrients known in any food, plant, grain or herb.

What Does Spirulina Contain?

It is the highest protein containing food over 60% all digestible vegetable protein. Spirulina is located with unique phytonutrients like phycocynanin, polysaccharides and sulfolipids, that enhance the immune system, reducing with good chance risks of infections, cancer and auto immune diseases. Rich in natural carotenoids, antioxidants, that promote cellular health and may reduce the risk of cancer.

This blue green algae is a freshwater plant – in fact, it’s the very same algae that can be found on the surface of the pond. While that might not seem very appetizing, there are practically an endless number of reasons you should eat it, at least in its final form of spirulina, which is completely safe.
Check out these 5 reasons you should have a spoonful of spirulina each day.

1.Fights Liver Disease

Spirulina may be essential for those with a chronic liver disease as research has shown that it helps to protect against liver cirrhosis, liver damage and liver failure. In the study published in Journal Nutrition, the scientists concluded that spirulina is beneficial for liver health in addition to functioning as an antioxidant, eliminating free radicals, preventing liver damage and chelating harmful-metals.

2.Supports Brain Health

Taking a spoonful of spirulina a day is believed to help protect the brain from degenerative diseases, such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease. One study compared spirulina to foods rich in antioxidants like blueberries and spinach, which are well-known to cause neuroprotective effects because of their ability to lower inflammation and eliminate free radicals. Research has also shown it doesn’t only protect the brain from degeneration, but it also helps sharpen your mind, with some findings that suggest taking it daily can even help increase productivity and focus.

3.Improves Muscle Strength and Endurance

As one of the major contributors to fatigue in muscles is exercise-induced oxidative damage, consuming plant foods that are rich in antioxidants like spirulina can prevent the problem, or at a minimum, limit the damage. Spirulina has also been found in studies to be beneficial for improving both endurance and muscle strength.

4.Lowers the Risk of Cancer

The University of Maryland Medical Center reports: “A number of animal and test tube studies suggest that spirulina increases production of antibodies, infection-fighting proteins, and other cells that improve immunity and help ward off infection and chronic illnesses such as cancer.

5.Lowers Blood Sugar Levels

Some animal studies have suggested that consuming spirulina can lower blood sugar levels, in fact, results have even shown that it can outperform some of the most common diabetes medications, like Metformin. Other research on humans, in which 25 patients with type-2 diabetes took two grams of spirulina each day for two months, experienced significantly lowered blood sugar levels.

How to Use Spirulina:

The easiest way to utilize spirulina is to mix it into various foods. While you could simply mix a spoonful into a glass of water, many people find its pungent taste rather off-putting, but adding it to a smoothie, fruit juice, soup or other foods, even dips, can be a great way to take advantage of its many benefits without suffering through the experience.

The More Coffee You Drink The Longer You Will Live!

LONDON — People who drink three to four cups of coffee a day are more likely to see health benefits than harm, experiencing lower risks of premature death and heart disease than those who abstain, scientists said on Wednesday.
The research, which collated evidence from more than 200 previous studies, also found coffee consumption was linked to lower risks of diabetes, liver disease, dementia and some cancers.
Three or four cups a day confer the greatest benefit, the scientists said, except for women who are pregnant or who have a higher risk of suffering fractures.
Coffee is one of the most commonly consumed drinks worldwide. To better understand its effects on health, Robin Poole, a public health specialist at Britain’s University of Southampton, led a research team in an “umbrella review” of 201 studies based on observational research and 17 studies based on clinical trials across all countries and all settings.

“Umbrella reviews” synthesize previous pooled analyses to give a clearer summary of diverse research on a particular topic.

“Coffee drinking appears safe within usual patterns of consumption,” Pool’s team concluded in their research, published in the BMJ British medical journal late on Wednesday.
Drinking coffee was consistently linked with a lower risk of death from all causes and from heart disease. The largest reduction in relative risk of premature death is seen in people consuming three cups a day, compared with non-coffee drinkers.
Drinking more than three cups a day was not linked to harm, but the beneficial effects were less pronounced.
Coffee was also associated with a lower risk of several cancers, including prostate, endometrial, skin and liver cancer, as well as type 2 diabetes, gallstones and gout, the researchers said. The greatest benefit was seen for liver conditions such as cirrhosis of the liver.
Poole’s team noted that because their review included mainly observational data, no firm conclusions could be drawn about cause and effect. But they said their findings support other recent reviews and studies of coffee intake.

What is Spirulina?

It contains chlorophyll, with helps in detoxifying continuously present polluting agents. It also contains iron, trace minerals and the rare essential fatty acid.

Spirulina – The “Superfood”

With the usual three square meals a day, plus the snacks that sometimes go in between, our bodily system is revved up for a whole day of hard work – either in the house, in the office, or at school. The same intake becomes our first line of defense against lifestyle stress, pollution, radiation, or toxic chemicals.

In today’s pie graph of food choices, processed foods take a big chunk. Often the “no-choice” option of the busy people, these processed foods only fill the tummy but are nutritionally empty. Bring in the hard work again and you have a system that is left vulnerable to poor health and low energy. That’s bad news.

On the good side of the news: We can protect our bodies with a plant that, no matter how small, stores powerful, concentrated nutrients. How powerful?

This tiny plant has loads of these essential nutrients:
  1. Beta Carotene – ten times more than that of carrots.
  2. Protein – safe, vegetable protein (It’s a plant, remember?); fat and cholesterol – free unlike meat.
  3. Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA) – a good source of GLA for breastfeeding mothers for developing healthy babies.
  4. Iron – builds a stronger immune system with natural iron that’s easier to absorb than iron supplements.
This burst of nutrients is easy-to-digest and is absorbed quickly.

With these credentials, this plant, not surprisingly, was named superfood in the 1990s. This recognition came after soooooooo many years – 3.5 billion years, in fact. Why, that’s how long this plant has evolved! And that span of evolution made it nature’s longest living food.

Needless to say, spirulina’s billion-year existence is proof that this toughie survived even the worst environmental conditions that left other animal and plant species, well, extinct. And this amazing alga’s resilience, seemingly, has a noble purpose – to answer for health dilemmas of the modern people.

Spirulina and Anemia

Iron deficiency, the most common nutrient deficiency worldwide, results in condition known as Iron Anemia, prevalent among women, children, older people, or women on weight loss diets. While iron builds healthy red blood cells and strong immune system, over the counter iron supplements are most commonly not well absorbed by the human body.

But spirulina’s iron content was proven effective in a 30-day study involving eight young women with hypochronic anemia (blood hemoglobin content is lower than normal). With four grams of spirulina after each meal, the subjects blood hemoglobin content increased by 21% – from 10.9 to 13.2 – a satisfactory level not anymore considered anemic.

Spirulina and Cholesterol

High cholesterol levels, which we get from the food we eat, lead to high risks of strokes and heart attacks. Dietary improvements thus, are common slogans of campaigns promoting fat-reducing practices in meal preparation.

In Japan, thirty male employees diagnosed with high cholesterol, mild hypertension, and hyperlipidemia (abnormally high concentration of fats in the blood) were subjects of a study. These subjects were asked not to change their diet, except adding spirulina. After four weeks, total serum cholesterol dropped from 244 to 233 (4.5%).

Spirulina and Cancer

Several health books agree that foods and herbs that contain high levels of chlorophyll, a pigment that spirulina is rich in, show pharmacological evidence of cancer prevention. An explanation made by “One Earth Herbal Sourcebook” author Allan Keith Tillotston suggests that pigments in such foods “bind and thus stimulate excretion of cancer-causing chemicals.” When this happens, naturally occurring cancer cells (yes, they are just there) will be stopped from developing into symptomatic cancer.

For example, laboratory animals used in an Oregon State University were exposed to cancer-causing substance. Results of the study had it that those that were given chlorophyll supplement before the exposure developed far fewer tumors than those that were not given the supplement.

Having read all of these good things about spirulina, we now know that there is more to the enticing blue-green facade of this amazing alga. The favorable nutritional profile of this nature’s gift is an inviting entrance to a healthier you.

Top 7 Benefits Of Spirulina (SUPER FOOD)

Spirulina is a type of microscopic blue-green algae called cyanobacterium. It is said that the Aztecs gave it to their warriors for strength and endurance. For centuries, Spirulina (also called Manna in some cultures) has constituted an important part of the diet in many communities, for it is a true superfood.

Spirulina is considered one of the most nutritious super-foods because it contains non-toxic vitamin A in the form of caratinoids, B vitamins, minerals, trace elements, antioxidants, chlorophyll, and phytonutrients. It is over 60% “complete” protein, which is easy to digest. Spirulina is considered a complete protein because it contains all of the 22 essential amino acids needed to make a protein complete.

The Health Benefits of Spirulina are:
  1. Reduce fatigue
  2. Improve digestion
  3. Appetite Control
  4. Support Liver and Kidneys
  5. Reduce Inflammation
  6. Nature’s Detoxifier-high chlorophyll content
  7. Boosts Immune System
How do I Take Spirulina?

Spirulina can be added to fresh juices, smoothies, or simply to water. Since it is 100% pure powder, Spirulina will mix easily.

You can consume it first thing in the morning or in-between meals; perhaps sometimes for a quick afternoon boost.

Personally, I have used Spirulina at different times throughout the day. I have found that on the busy mornings when I don’t have time to juice, I mix it with water and it helps regulate my blood sugar levels, which sets me up with tons of sustained energy throughout the day. My personal best time to take Spirulina is right before I go to bed since I have noticed a dramatic difference in the levels of energy when I wake up.

Give it a try and play around with it by adding it to fresh juices, smoothies, or simply add water. This nutrient-packed superfood is a powerful addition to any lifestyle.

Keep Your Dreams

Once upon a time, there is a man named Monty Roberts who owns a horse ranch in San Isidro. He has let me use his house to put on fund-raising events to raise money for youth at risk programs.

The last time I was there he introduced me by saying, “I want to tell you why I let Jack use my horse. It all goes back to a story about a young man who was the son of an itinerant horse trainer who would go from stable to stable, race track to race track, farm to farm and ranch to ranch, training horses. As a result, the boy’s high school career was continually interrupted. When he was a senior, he was asked to write a paper about what he wanted to be and do when he grew up.

“That night he wrote a seven-page paper describing his goal of someday owning a horse ranch. He wrote about his dream in great detail and he even drew a diagram of a 200-acre ranch, showing the location of all the buildings, the stables and the track. Then he drew a detailed floor plan for a 4,000-square-foot house that would sit on a 200-acre dream ranch.

“He put a great deal of his heart into the project and the next day he handed it in to his teacher. Two days later he received his paper back. On the front page was a large red F with a note that read, `See me after class.’

“The boy with the dream went to see the teacher after class and asked, `Why did I receive an F?’

“The teacher said, `This is an unrealistic dream for a young boy like you. You have no money. You come from an itinerant family. You have no resources. Owning a horse ranch requires a lot of money. You have to buy the land. You have to pay for the original breeding stock and later you’ll have to pay large stud fees. There’s no way you could ever do it.’ Then the teacher added, `If you will rewrite this paper with a more realistic goal, I will reconsider your grade.’

“The boy went home and thought about it long and hard. He asked his father what he should do. His father said, `Look, son, you have to make up your own mind on this. However, I think it is a very important decision for you.’ “Finally, after sitting with it for a week, the boy turned in the same paper, making no changes at all.

He stated, “You can keep the F and I’ll keep my dream.”

Monty then turned to the assembled group and said, “I tell you this story because you are sitting in my 4,000-square-foot house in the middle of my 200-acre horse ranch. I still have that school paper framed over the fireplace.”

He added, “The best part of the story is that two summers ago that same schoolteacher brought 30 kids to camp out on my ranch for a week.” When the teacher was leaving, he said, “Look, Monty, I can tell you this now.

When I was your teacher, I was something of a dream stealer. During those years I stole a lot of kids’ dreams.

Fortunately you had enough gumption not to give up on yours.”

Moral Lesson:
Don’t let anyone steal your dreams. Follow your heart, no matter what. No Dream is too big or too small when one works hard to live it. One should always try making dreams come true no matter what.
